Located at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex in Guilford County, NC, the Greensboro Aquatic Center (GAC) is a nationally recognized aquatic venue designed by Rosser International of Atlanta, GA, TFF Architects of Greensboro, NC (Architects of Record), and Wallover Architects Incorporated. This cutting-edge facility features a combination of three expertly engineered bodies of water, offering a total surface area of nearly 18,000 square feet and accommodating 1.5 million gallons of water.

With its innovative design, flexibility, and adherence to NCAA and FINA standards, the GAC has become one of the premier destinations for competitive swimming, diving, synchronized swimming, and aquatic training in the Southeast.

Facility Highlights

50-Meter Competition Pool

The GAC’s all-deep-water stretch pool measures 52.5 meters by 25 yards and is 10 feet deep. It features two moveable bulkheads, allowing for 10 distinct pool configurations to support multiple simultaneous events and maximum programming flexibility.

25-Yard Diving Well

The diving well is 17 feet deep and equipped with 1-meter and 3-meter springboards, along with 5, 7.5, and 10-meter diving platforms. This world-class diving setup meets the needs of elite athletes and competitive teams alike.

Warm-Up & Teaching Pool

Measuring 46 feet by 25 yards and ranging from 3 to 4 feet in depth, the warm-up pool includes full ADA ramp access and provides space for training, instruction, and therapeutic use.

The GAC includes second-floor spectator seating for 2,500 guests, along with support facilities like:

Wet classrooms directly accessible from the pool deck
Production/timing room
Trainer’s room and first aid station
Lifeguard and manager offices
Full-service locker rooms and family changing areas

Proven Performance & Recognition

Completed in August 2011 with a construction value of $18.3 million, the Greensboro Aquatic Center quickly earned accolades as a premier competitive venue. In its first year, it hosted the U.S. Synchronized Swimming 2012 Olympic Team Trials and the YMCA National Short Course Swimming Championships.

Today, the GAC continues to host high school and collegiate competitions, USA Swimming events, Masters Swimming, and U.S. Water Polo tournaments.
