Wallover Pool Design Featured in New York Real Estate Journal Edwin (Ted) and Susan Wallover, Wallover Architects incorporated, attended the grand opening celebration of the Flushing Meadows Corona Park Natatorium and Ice Rink in Queens, New York on February 29, 2008. The total construction cost for the complex was $66.3 million and was completed by Handel Architects in association with Kevin Hom+Andrew Goldman Architects, PC. As part of the project team, Wallover Architects provided full aquatic design services and consulting for the natatorium design. The Olympic-sized swimming pool, which will serve as a year-round community facility for competitive and recreational use, is the first indoor public pool to open in New York City in four decades. The facility is located on the site of the 1939 and 1964 World’s Fair. Designed as a potential Olympic swimming competition venue and local recreation facility, the pool includes one and three meter diving, a larger moveable floor section and dual moveable bulkheads. The ten-lane, 50 meter stretch pool is designed to maximize performance and include flexibility for multiple aquatic sports including diving, 25 and 50 meter racing, water polo, synchronized swimming, and leisure activities. The pool holds over one million gallons of water. Wallover Architects is currently serving as the aquatic design consultant on 15 projects in New York City alone. The PDF link below will take you to the full New York Real Estate Journal
