The long history of architecture and religious buildings is one that continues to grow. The pure ideas of architecture coupled with the church's ability to uplift the human spirit are a perfect bonding of form and function. In the modern sense a church has become much more than a large central space designed to create awe and wonder. Religious education and ministry reaches beyond the sanctuary into surrounding neighborhoods benefiting people of all ages.
York Grace Brethren Church
York,
Pennsylvania
This very dedicated congregation presented us with several needs for their 1950's era building. The originally planned second story was added for office and additional classroom space. The sanctuary was reoriented to use the new second story as the main entrance. The new sanctuary includes flexible audio/video and lighting capabilities for their modern services. The chancel platform had to be enlarged for full immersion baptism and musical performance. Ownership of the building process was undertaken by the congregation and finished with enthusiasm.
Trinity Lutheran Church
Fisher Parish House Renovations,
Lancaster, Pennsylvania
One of the oldest congregations in Lancaster faced the need to update its Christian education and office facilities. The desire to be a welcoming presence in an urban environment and to be accessible for disabled individuals were only two of the numerous issues facing the Vestry. By reorganizing the interior functions and adding new vertical circulation components, all areas of the multi-level structure were opened for use by members of the congregation. Appropriately scaled architectural details, combined with new interior finishes and furnishings create a unified aesthetic for the building. In addition the chapel was renovated to provide additional worship space. The existing building mechanical and electrical systems were brought into code compliance without deteriorating the original character of the Parish House.
